Hei girls! I am glad to be a part of this group:) I have been where you are and I hope I am able to support you both with personal and proffesional expertese. Stress and bordon are the number one emotional triggers that lead to eating when not hungry.
When you are stressed you need to stop, breathe and listen to what your body and spirit is telling you. What is it your inner voice is saying? What is it you really need? Take a glass of water or make yourself a cup of tea and just breathe and the feeling of wanting to eat something will surpass. When you are stressed your body releases cortisol which is a hormon that causes fat storage and makes your blood pressure rise. It is important that you find "you time" and leave the house chores to someone else sometimes and at times it is better to just leave them, period, and focus on you. The laundry will still be there when you are done with nourishing "you".
Yes, I do stress and boredom eating too. When I feel lonely or bored, I head for the pantry...
One thing that has helped a lot with that habit is to make myself walk around the block before getting something to eat. I tell myself that if I really need to hit the pantry when I get back from my walk, that's ok. But the walk relieves the stress and breaks the boredom up. Usually then I feel like it's ok and I can read a book or go on with what i was trying to get done. Without hitting the pantry!
